Candlelight Peace Vigil

“You are invited to join the Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch and take part in a vigil on the 13th April 2011. The vigil is to show our support to other Neighbourhood Watches in Cape Town and worldwide. This is your chance to join your community and reclaim your neighbourhood from criminals.

Date: Wednesday 13th April 2011
Time: 6:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Edgemead Bowling Club, Edgemead Drive

Bring along your candle, lantern or torch and show your commitment to a crime free community. Let us stand together in solidarity with our neighbours for 30 minutes to stamp out crime. Please invite all your family, friends and neighbours to join you. Please note that this is an open invitation and is not limited to Edgemead residents.

The Candle Light Vigil was initiated by the BKM Lionesses in 2010 in memory of Jane van Zyl who was murdered in Bergvliet on the 13th April 2008.

The focus is in Cape Town, but we are already being joined by supporters in Trafalgar Square, London, on the same evening. We hope to get 1 million people worldwide to light a candle and stand together against crime!

To date NHW’s that are participating are: BKM (Bergvliet/Kreupelbosch/Meadowridge), Kirstenhof, Tokai, Constantia Hills, Nova Constantia, Constantia, Plumstead, Southfield, Grassy Park, Bedford View JHB, UCT, Somerset West and more.
